Where possible, use tradesmen you know, that you have used before and that you are happy with. If you know a quality tradesman who has done good work for you in the past, they may even do you a cheaper rate. Be mindful that there are plenty of lesser quality trades out there who will rip you off.

Shop around for materials. Your renovator can do this on your behalf and may be able to get better prices than you can as they know where the best quality materials are at the best prices. If you think you can get a better price or want to choose everything yourself and do the leg work, ask your tradesman to quote for labour only.

A great contemporary concept is to sell your old kitchen as a full unit which could get you $200 – $1500 depending on appliances and the condition of your kitchen. Just ask your renovator to pull out the old kitchen with care for sale and you could also be helping out someone with a kitchen worse-off.

Another tip to save money on your renovation would be to pull the kitchen out yourself and save on the cost of labour. However I wouldn’t recommend attempting this feat if you have never done anything like this before-pay the labour cost to make sure your kitchen comes out in tact.
