It has been a fantastic year for PCM Carpentry with so many of our wonderful clients realising their renovation dreams.
Here’s our top renovation trends of 2017 from our experience this past year…
This year we enjoyed matt black fixtures in kitches and bathroom renovations from towel rails to taps.
Our clients opted for this contemporary and daring finish as matt black really makes a bold statement!
This funky yet luxurious trend allows your fixtures to become a feature in the space and moves away from traditional conventions.

The neutrals trend never really looses its timeless appeal – always in fashion.
Less likely to date, neutrals allow you to introduce almost any colour into the room without compromising on design and style. Neutrals allow for greater personalisation whilst still looking crisp and clean.
Tip: The biggest mistake people make when renovating is going ‘too trendy’ and not thinking long term i.e. what is the resale value going to be 5 years down the track? Will the space still be trendy or will it have gone out of fashion.
The range of kitchen and bathroom fixtures available today for creating a stunning neutral space is limitless so you really are spoiled for choice with this trend!

Functional and practical as well as inexpensive and modern – floor to ceiling tiles look fantastic in bathrooms as well as kitchens.
Not only will your bathroom be easy to clean, tiles will make your space extremely functional.
Tiles can be inexpensive depending on the tiles you pick and can be a great choice for the budget conscious floor to ceiling, just as a splash back or in wet areas.
Tip: Pair 1 or 2 types of tiles together for a sleek minimal design. Try not to over design the space or add too many trendy permanent fixtures.

Melburnians are loving the stepless shower base trend!
This is not a new trend but rather a timeless trend that continues to be a prominent bathroom fashion.
Excellent for the mobility or vision impaired, the stepless aspect allows for more fluid movement in the space whilst looking luxurious and expensive.
Outdoor entertainment spaces bring the outside in as well as bringing people together.
Why not add a decked area to the back or front of your home and a pergola to share your outdoor haven with family and friends?
Where glass splash backs are also commonly used, tiled splash backs are a cheaper alternative and are a good quality finish that look just as clean and modern as glass. Tiled splash backs however are more on trend right now as they are cheap, aesthetically pleasing, easy to clean and long wearing.
